Why we do not publish the asking price

A price on the open web is a price every neighbour, every competitor and every passing agency can see and repeat. Sellers on this coast have watched a figure travel further than the listing ever did.

So the figure is released to a named buyer who has given their details. It takes a moment, it costs nothing, and it means the seller knows who has seen it. That record is also what the commission is settled against — which is why it is not a marketing device.
